Mini house for the generator coming along. Rez thinks it's his new home.
Another good nights rest in the bus. After 9 days of driving combined with the relief of being home allowed everyone, including the dogs, to sleep soundly.
We went to town with plans to use WiFi, RV shopping, purchase a gun and some lumber. We found and, a couple days later, purchased a 2007 Keystone Cougar pull-behind camper. It was in excellent condition and ended up being under budget. The dealer performed an inspection to test and verify everything before delivering the RV a week later to the property. At the gun shop, we needed to become Alaskan residents before we could purchase a handgun and we still had our Minnesota drivers licenses. We took care of that issue a week later by getting our Alaska drivers licenses. We also purchased some lumber and built a small shelter for the generator to keep it out of the rain and try to quiet it down a little.

Once we got back to the property, we cleared some grass with the weed wacker. We noticed an odd thing about Alaskans mowing lawns--most are mowing with their weed-wackers. Even larger areas of grass. They make weed-wacker mowers too! We think its the amount of rocks in the soil which a weed wacker would be more ideal for. Either way, we cleared a large piece of our field with the weed wacker we brought with us. It worked well and helped us see the lay of the land and also evicted a bunch of mosquitoes.

We enjoyed our leftover Thai from Tok for dinner. We are all exhausted and ready for bed after making plans for tomorrow.

Hello, I am Melissa, owner of Wild North Design. Recently, my husband and I decided to pick up and move to Alaska. This dream has been a couple years in the making and we are enjoying the journey so far. We love to learn and make all kinds of things. From wood craft, to painting, to vehicles, landscaping, building, exploring...we love it all! We are finding out that Alaska is a great fit for our restless minds and bodies! Excited for what the future holds for our expanding family!
