Road Trip Home: Day 3

The bus at our campsite in Edmonton, AB.
Left Lethbridge, AB around 11am. Stopped for lunch and fuel near Calgary, AB. Rained a bit there--free car wash on the road! That night, we stayed at another nice campground on the outskirts of Edmonton.
As we pulled into the RV site, the neighbor jogged over to Pete's window on the bus and asked if he could get a ride to whatever casino we were headed to (since we still have the poker chips and cards on the back of the bus). We got a good laugh after he scooted back to his RV and relayed to his wife that we only purchased it from a casino and converted it. For dinner, we enjoyed salads and grilled pizzas .

The sun is setting much later as we head further north, and we were lucky to enjoy some rain-free evenings for the remainder of the trip. Mosquitoes are starting to come out thicker at dusk. Not too big of a surprise as they always come out around this time of year in Minnesota. Pete noticed some fluid seeping from the rear drive shaft seal and checked it again at the campsite in Edmonton. It had continued to seep and he speculated the heavy rocking from the frost heaves wasn't helping it. He removed the plug and checked the level of differential fluid--there was still a good amount, however, we planned to get some more and top it off in the morning. Before bed, we reviewed the next day's route to Dawson Creek, BC, which is mile zero of the Alaskan Highway. We anticipate the roads will become more difficult as we progress.

Hello, I am Melissa, owner of Wild North Design. Recently, my husband and I decided to pick up and move to Alaska. This dream has been a couple years in the making and we are enjoying the journey so far. We love to learn and make all kinds of things. From wood craft, to painting, to vehicles, landscaping, building, exploring...we love it all! We are finding out that Alaska is a great fit for our restless minds and bodies! Excited for what the future holds for our expanding family!
